Chat commands

Create !commands, use variables, set who may use them and change your game or title from chat.

Viewers type a command such as !discord in your Twitch chat and StreamModule answers with your text. You manage commands on the Chatbot page.

Before you start

  1. Connect Twitch under Settings → Connections.
  2. Make StreamModule a moderator in your channel (recommended).
  3. Add your own commands, or start with the suggested ones.

Variables

Put these in a reply; they are filled in when the command is used.

VariableBecomes
{user}Name of the viewer who used the command
{touser}First word after the command (without @), or the viewer
{args}Everything typed after the command
{channel}Your channel name
{count}How often the command was used
{uptime}How long you have been live
{followage}How long the viewer has been following you
{game}The stream game (after a game change: the new one)
{title}The stream title (after a title change: the new one)

Example: !so with the reply Go check out {touser} at https://twitch.tv/{touser} turns "!so @PixelPanda" into "Go check out PixelPanda at https://twitch.tv/PixelPanda".

Who can use a command

Choose everyone, subscribers, VIPs, moderators or only you. Moderators and you also skip the cooldown, so a command can be repeated while viewers have to wait.

Change your game or title from chat

Commands with the action "Change game" or "Change title" update your stream. They can only be given to moderators or you.

!game Minecraft
!title Building a castle tonight!

Without text after the command, it just shows the current game or title. If Twitch asks for it, reconnect Twitch once so StreamModule may change your stream.

Good to know

  • Replies never start with /, . or !, so viewers cannot make the bot run Twitch commands.
  • Commands are not case sensitive: !Discord and !discord are the same.
  • Replies are limited to 400 characters in the editor and one chat message when sent.
